Managing Product Groups

Product groups are collections of products that can be used for various purposes. Return policies, automations, reasons, and exchange rules can all be applied using different product groups.

While product groups are used elsewhere in the application, they are defined in Settings > Product Groups.

You can create a new product group by clicking Add Group. This opens a dialog that asks for a name and the products to include.

Here you can set the name of the product group. This will not show to the customer, but will be displayed throughout the application where product groups are referenced.

The next part of the dialog defines which products are included in the group. You can use any combination of these, and a product that matches any of them is included.

  • Product tags: products with any of the selected tags.
  • Product types: products with any of the selected Shopify product types.
  • Product collections: products in any of the selected Shopify collections.

Click Create Product Group to save.

  • Reasons: show a specific set of return reasons for products in the group.
  • Automation conditions: use the Product Group condition to apply a rule only to products in the group.
  • Product exchange rules: choose which products customers can exchange into. See Advanced Exchanges.
  • Product registration rules: use the group in your product registration rules.

Click a product group’s row to see the tags, types, and collections it includes, and the Product Exchange and registration rules that use it. Several icons are available in the row for each product group:

  • Refresh: Syncs the products in this group. Products are synced periodically, so you don’t typically need this, but you can use it to see a fully current version of the group.
  • View: The eye icon lists all products in the group. Archived, deleted, and draft products are not included.
  • Edit: Modify the same fields available when creating the group.
  • Delete: Delete the group. You can’t delete a group that a reason group, Product Exchange rule or registration rule uses. Automations that use the group only as a Product Group condition don’t block deletion, so check your automations before deleting.

To refresh your whole catalog from Shopify, click Sync Products From Shopify at the top of the page. The sync can take up to 15 minutes to complete.
