Gift Card Incentives Automation
Overview
Section titled “Overview”Gift Card Incentives allow you to encourage customers to choose store credit over a refund by providing a bonus amount on top of their return. This can be configured globally as a default incentive or conditionally through automation rules.
What You Can Expect
Section titled “What You Can Expect”With gift card incentives, you can:
- Encourage store credit by offering customers an extra percentage or fixed amount.
- Set a default incentive that applies across all returns.
- Create conditional incentives that only apply in specific scenarios (e.g., by product type, return reason, or customer profile).
- Customize incentives per situation without needing to change your global return settings.
- Drive retention by keeping more revenue within your store while providing extra value to customers.
Features and Functionality
Section titled “Features and Functionality”Default Incentive
Section titled “Default Incentive”- Found in Return Settings → Store Credit.
- Set a percentage (e.g., 10% extra credit) or a fixed amount (e.g., $5 bonus).
- This applies to all return-to-store-credit cases unless modified by automation rules.
- Leaving this blank means no incentive is applied globally.
Automation Rules for Gift Card Incentives
Section titled “Automation Rules for Gift Card Incentives”- Located under Automations → Gift Card Incentive Rules.
- Rules can:
- Modify the default incentive (e.g., increase the bonus only for certain products).
- Create a conditional incentive even if no global incentive is set.
- You can add multiple conditions such as:
- Claim reason (e.g., “Too Small”)
- Customer details (e.g., first-time buyer vs. repeat customer)
- Order details (e.g., order total over $100)
- Product attributes (e.g., applies only to apparel, not accessories)
Incentive Types
Section titled “Incentive Types”- Percentage-based: Adds a % of the original return amount.
- Fixed amount: Adds a set bonus value to the gift card.
Rule Behavior
Section titled “Rule Behavior”- If no conditions are set, the rule will always apply.
- Rules override or add to the default settings depending on how they’re configured.
- Multiple rules can exist, giving you flexibility to tailor incentives across customer and product scenarios.
Implementation
Section titled “Implementation”To set up Gift Card Incentives:
- Go to Return Settings → Store Credit.
- Set a global incentive (optional).
- Go to Automations → Gift Card Incentive Rules.
- Click Create Rule.
- Add conditions (or leave blank to apply universally).
- Set percentage or fixed amount.
- Save and enable the rule.
- Test with a return to ensure incentives apply correctly.
Q: Do I have to set a default incentive?
No. You can leave it blank and only use conditional automation rules if preferred.
Q: What happens if I set both a default incentive and a rule?
The automation rule takes priority and modifies or replaces the default incentive.
Q: Can I run multiple incentive rules at once?
Yes. You can create as many rules as needed, and they will apply based on their conditions.
Q: Can I mix percentage and fixed incentives?
Yes, you can choose either option for each rule, depending on your needs.
