Claim Risk
Section titled “Claim Risk”The Claim Risk feature helps merchants identify potentially fraudulent claims by analyzing various signals and patterns across customer behavior. When enabled, Corso automatically evaluates each claim and assigns a risk level to help you prioritize which claims may need additional review.
How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”Corso analyzes multiple factors to calculate a risk score for each claim, including:
- Email Activity: How often the customer’s email has been used for claims at your store and across all merchants
- Device Patterns: Whether the same device has been used to file multiple claims with different email addresses or stores
- IP Address Patterns: Whether the IP address shows suspicious activity across multiple claims and merchants, as well as well known fraudulent addresses.
- Media Reuse: Whether uploaded images or videos have been used in previous claims
- Order Verification: Whether the claim is tied to a verified Shopify order or an unverified registration
- Platform Risk Signals: Fraud indicators from your e-commerce platform (like Shopify’s fraud analysis, or other third party fraud detection apps)
Risk Levels
Section titled “Risk Levels”Claims are categorized into four risk levels based on their aggregate score:
- Low Risk : Minimal fraud indicators, safe to process normally
- Medium Risk : Moderate fraud indicators, review recommended
- High Risk : Strong fraud indicators, hold for investigation
