Advanced Exchanges

Advanced Exchanges gives customers the ability to exchange a product for an item of higher or lower value. You can choose to collect additional payment (upsell), issue partial refunds (downsell), or both. This expands beyond simple variant swaps to allow true cross-product exchanges.

  • Increases conversion by letting customers shop confidently
  • Drives incremental revenue through upsells
  • Reduces churn by offering flexible, customer-first resolutions
  • Maintains control of margins with configurable exchange rules

Go to Admin → Return Settings → Product Exchanges
From here, configure exchange rules using Product Groups.

  • Select one or more Product Groups (e.g., Jackets, Pants, Tees)
  • Define eligible exchange targets within those groups
  • Choose an Exchange Method:
    • No price adjustments – only allow even-value swaps
    • Upsell only – allow higher-priced items; no refunds
    • Upsell + Downsell – allow both and refund/collect difference
