Advanced Exchanges
Getting Started
Section titled “Getting Started”What Is It
Section titled “What Is It”Advanced Exchanges gives customers the ability to exchange a product for an item of higher or lower value. You can choose to collect additional payment (upsell), issue partial refunds (downsell), or both. This expands beyond simple variant swaps to allow true cross-product exchanges.

How It Works
Section titled “How It Works”1. Enable Advanced Exchanges
Section titled “1. Enable Advanced Exchanges”Go to Admin → Return Settings → Product Exchanges
From here, configure exchange rules using Product Groups.
2. Create an Exchange Rule
Section titled “2. Create an Exchange Rule”- Select one or more Product Groups (e.g., Jackets, Pants, Tees)
- Define eligible exchange targets within those groups
- Choose an Exchange Method:
- No price adjustments – only allow even-value swaps
- Upsell only – allow higher-priced items; no refunds
- Upsell + Downsell – allow both and refund/collect difference

Customer Experience
Section titled “Customer Experience”- Customer selects an item eligible for exchange
- Corso shows other items from allowed product groups
- Customer chooses their new item
- If higher priced: they pay the difference
- If lower priced: they can opt for a refund or gift card
- Customer sees a summary page with:
- Return item
- Replacement item
- Return handling fee (if applicable)
- Price difference
- Refund/gift card options
- Customer submits the request and payment (if upsell)
Admin View
Section titled “Admin View”After a claim is submitted:
- View all key data at a glance:
- Replacement order
- Amount collected or refunded
- Handling fees
- Exchange method (upsell/downsell)
- Use View Ledger to dive into:
- Credits, deductions, and net balance
- Gift card or refund issued (if downsell)
- Claims can be auto-finalized or manually finalized
- Click to access the replacement order directly
Summary
Section titled “Summary”Advanced Exchanges gives your customers more flexibility while helping your brand retain revenue and offer better service. Whether it’s upselling to a more premium product or refunding the difference fairly, Advanced Exchanges is a powerful way to modernize your return experience.
Can customers exchange for more expensive or cheaper items?
Section titled “Can customers exchange for more expensive or cheaper items?”Yes. You can allow upsells (they pay the difference), downsells (you refund or issue a gift card), or both.
How does the customer pay if the new item costs more?
Section titled “How does the customer pay if the new item costs more?”They enter their payment info right in the return portal before submitting the exchange.
Can I choose which products are eligible for exchanges?
Section titled “Can I choose which products are eligible for exchanges?”Yes. Use Product Groups to control which items can be exchanged and what they can be exchanged for.
What happens if the new item costs less?
Section titled “What happens if the new item costs less?”Customers can receive the difference as a refund or gift card—based on your settings.
Where can I see the financial breakdown of an exchange?
Section titled “Where can I see the financial breakdown of an exchange?”In the claim details, click View Ledger to see all credits, deductions, and final totals.
